BMW has started accepting bookings for the upcoming i5 M60 xDrive in India. Interested buyers can reserve their vehicle through the German automaker's authorized dealership network or the BMW Online Shop. This all-electric sedan will be imported via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route. It is expected to hit the market soon. However, the car will be available in limited units, with deliveries slated to start across the country in May 2024.
From the design perspective, the electric vehicle showcases a wider, blanked-out kidney grille complemented by angular headlamps on either side. It also features dual boomerang-shaped LED DRLs.
Inside, mirroring the BMW 5 Series, it presents a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is powered by the latest iDrive 8.5 operating system. It is built on Linux software and offers gaming alongside video playback capabilities.
Additional amenities include front seats with four-way power lumbar support & heating, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control featuring a micro-filter.
As for safety, the vehicle incorporates BMW’s Active Driving Assistant and a rearview camera, among other functions.
BMW i5 comes equipped with an 81.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack, with the M60 xDrive variant providing a WLTP-certified range of up to 516 kms on one single full charge. Standard equipment includes an 11kW AC charging capacity which can be upgraded to 22kW with an optional onboard charger. Additionally, the electric vehicle is available with a DC charging capability of up to 205kW, enabling BMW to assert a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
In terms of pricing, the BMW i5 M60 is likely to be positioned closely to the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Audi e-Tron GT, which are priced at Rs 1.62 crore and Rs 1.72 crore (ex-showroom), respectively.
