BYD Sealion 7 is an upcoming electric SUV from Chinese EV manufacturer and will be launching soon in India. It was seen for the first time at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, and ever since there was a huge level of excitement. The official launch date is scheduled for February 17, 2025, and bookings will start from March 7, 2025. Before its formal launch, deliveries of the SUV to dealerships in the nation have commenced. Just days back, two units arrived at a dealership in Bengaluru. Early deliveries to the first 70 customers and test drives now available at BYD showrooms.

The Sealion 7 is closely related to the BYD Seal sedan, which is already available in India. The front features a similar headlamp and grille design as the Seal EV. The Sealion 7 has a sleek, tapered roofline, giving it a coupe-SUV appearance. This SUV also features large 20-inch wheels with black cladding, contributing to its sporty look. Flush door handles and linked LED rear lamps with pixel pattern add to the overall modern image of the car.

Inside, the Sealion 7 feels premium. The SUV packs a 15.6-inch rotary screen attached to a black glass. In addition to the infotainment system, this glass holds a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver. The car boasts a four-spoke steering wheel with so many controls.
Interior-wise, this car boasts the following premium items: heads-up display with a multi-color ambient lighting system in addition to the two wireless chargers for one's phone. There is the dual-zone climate control, adding comfort to it, while ventilation is also to be found, but this is limited to front seats. What makes the inside even more spacey is its panoramic glass roof. Seats are upholstered in white leatherette material while there is gloss black panel across the dashboard. It has comfort features installed for the comfort of the rear passengers, AC vents, and centre armrest for added convenience.

The Sealion 7 will have two variants of battery packs that show dynamic performances. An 82.5kwh unit will produce 308.71 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The larger 91.3 kWh pack comes in the second option, with 522.75 bhp and 690 Nm of torque. On the other hand, a driving range of up to 502 km can be obtained depending on the battery size when using the 91.3 kWh battery. In addition, the SUV comes in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants.

The BYD Sealion 7 has safety in its design. It boasts a 360-degree camera, 11 airbags, mounting points for child seats, ISOFIX for easy installation, parking sensors at both front and rear sides, and hill hold control. Added to that are a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes Lane Departure Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Forward Collision Warning. These ensure the safety of the driver and passengers.
The BYD Sealion 7 is scheduled to be retailed in the Indian market from Rs. 45 lakh to Rs. 60 lakh, ex-showroom. It will be actually determined on 17 February, 2025, when the car is being launched. Chief competitors for the Sealion 7 are going to be BMW iX1 LWB, Kia EV6, and Hyundai IONIQ 5.
The BYD Sealion 7 was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025. Now, with the car nearing the date of unveiling, the excitement for the SUV starts to gain momentum. It can be booked with a token amount of Rs 70,000 and its deliveries will begin from March 7, 2025.
With its amazing design, state-of-the-art features, and exceptional performance, it would seem that the BYD Sealion 7 would be quite effective in dominating the Indian electric SUV market.
