Hyundai has filed a design patent for a Genesis GV80 coupe in India Globally, it is available with three engine options Will rival BMW X6, Audi Q8, and Mercedes GLE coupe
The auto industry is going to witness a range of coupe SUVs in India. Tata Currv and Citroen Basalt Coupe SUVs are already on the verge of their launch. To our surprise, Hyundai has also trademarked a new coupe SUV in India. It will be a luxurious offering from Genesis (a luxury car brand from Hyundai) for the first time in our market. Although there is no confirmation, it is expected to be launched by the end of 2025. Upon launch, it will rival premium car brands such as Mercedes, Audi, and BMW.

The global-spec GV80 is available in two body styles - SUV and SUV-coupe. However, for the Indian market, the brand could launch only the coupe-SUV version, as suggested by the design patent image.
Talking about its design and styling, it could get Genesis's signature front grille in a crest-shaped design with a twin, horizontal headlamp unit on either side. Other exterior design elements include a coupe roofline, sporty bumpers, and a twin lighting setup at the rear.
Globally, the Genesis GV80 is powered by three engine options. These include a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol, 3.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 3.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 48V electric supercharger that can produce 413 bhp and 549 Nm torque. For the India-spec model, the powertrain details are yet to be revealed.
Yes, Hyundai Motor Group owns Genesis, a luxury car brand that was started in 2015. Genesis is a separate brand from Hyundai that mainly focuses on making high-end cars. The first Genesis models, the G80 and G90, were sold in the U.S. in late 2016. The Genesis lineup also includes three sedans (G70, G80, G90) and three SUVs (GV60, GV70, GV80), with some models available as all-electric vehicles.
Hyundai Genesis produces high-end vehicles using premium materials and features, along with powerful engines. Their brand's positioning, along with the engineering and development costs, naturally contribute to the high prices of these cars.
