Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD Coming - Bigger Battery and Faster Charging

Ioniq 5 AWD version coming soon. Bigger battery and faster charging added. More features and improved performance expected.

Hyundai Motor India is getting ready to introduce an updated version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India.

The new model will bring a more powerful AWD setup, along with key upgrades in battery and features. A test mule has already been spotted on Indian roads, hinting at an upcoming launch.

Bigger Battery, More Power

The biggest change in the facelift is under the hood.

The current model uses a 72.6 kWh battery with a rear-wheel-drive setup. The updated version will come with a larger 84 kWh battery pack.

It will also get an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, producing up to 321 bhp and 605 Nm. This setup is similar to the Kia EV6 GT, making the SUV much more powerful.

Faster Charging Support

The new Ioniq 5 will support 350 kW DC fast charging.

This allows the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, making it more convenient for long journeys.

Subtle Design Updates

On the outside, the changes will be minimal.

The SUV will get slight tweaks to the front design, along with new dual-tone alloy wheels.

At the rear, the bumper has been updated and now includes integrated fog lights.

Cabin Gets Practical Upgrades

Inside, the layout will remain largely unchanged.

The Ioniq 5 will continue with dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and driver information.

However, it will now offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard, without the need for adapters.

More Features Added

The facelift will also bring a longer feature list.

Expected features include:

  • 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
  • Heads-up display (HUD)
  • Paddle shifters for regen control
  • Powered tailgate
  • Electric lumbar support
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) reverse charging
  • Five-link rear suspension

Slightly Larger Dimensions

The updated model will be 20 mm longer, measuring 4,655 mm in length. This makes it slightly bigger than before, while still being a bit shorter than the Kia EV6.
