Hyundai to Launch Extended-Range EVs with Over 960km Range in 2027

The Korean automaker, Hyundai has announced its future roadmap at the 2025 CEO Investor Day. The company will launch an all-new India-specific EV, which is most likely to be an all-new small electric SUV to rival Tata Punch EV. Adding to it, Hyundai will expand its hybrid lineup to more than 18 models by 2030.

The big news is that Hyundai has officially announced to launch its first extended range electric vehicle in 2027. In an official statement, the Korean brand reveals that its Extended Range EVs (EREVs) will utilise high-performance batteries and motors to deliver EV-like driving experiences. The new Hyundai extended range EVs will offer more than 960km (600 miles) of range through optimised battery-engine integration.

It is expected that the Hyundai popular electric SUVs, including the Ioniq 5. Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 9 will receive the new extended range electric powertrains. The company stated that “Hyundai’s approach utilises in-house high-performance batteries, achieving full EV power performance with less than half the battery capacity, improving accessibility while maintaining exceptional range and performance, and eliminating range anxiety.”
