Hyundai to Launch 3 New SUVs by Early 2027: Nexon EV and Sierra Rivals
Hyundai Bayon launch in October New electric SUV by end of 2026 Next-gen Creta launch in early 2027
Hyundai Motor Company is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company is all set to launch the Bayon midsize SUV in October. Adding to it, a new compact electric SUV has been confirmed to be launched by the end of this year. Hyundai is also developing the next-generation Creta SUV, which is expected to be revealed at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
Hyundai Bayon
Hyundai has officially announced the Bayon midsize SUV for the Indian market. Interested customers can book the new SUV online or at authorised Hyundai dealerships across India by paying an initial amount of Rs 11,000. It is scheduled to make its global debut on October 12, 2026, at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
The new Hyundai Bayon is based on Hyundai's K platform and will be offered with petrol and CNG fuel options. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 114bhp and 144Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The SUV will be the first Hyundai above 4 metres to feature a factory-fitted CNG option. If reports are to be believed, the SUV could get an underbody CNG tank.
Hyundai has confirmed that the small SUV will be equipped with an in-built AI voice assistant. It is based on Hyundai's latest Art of Steel design language, featuring an upright SUV stance and full LED lighting system. The new Bayon will measure 4.2 meters in length. It will sit between the sub-4m Venue and the next-gen Creta, which will grow in size and is expected to measure around 4.45 meters in length.
Hyundai Electric SUV
Hyundai will also enter the sub-4 meter electric SUV segment with an all-new model by the end of this year. Codenamed HE1i, the upcoming electric SUV will rival the Tata Nexon EV, Kia Syros EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. It will be manufactured at Hyundai;s Sriperumbudur Plant in Tamil Nadu. The new Hyundai EV will debut the brand's Pleos Connect centre screen, which will also be offered with the next-gen Creta.
The new compact electric SUV is likely to get a high-density NMC battery. It is likely to be offered in two versions: standard range and long range - equipped with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, respectively. It is also expected to support fast charging up to 120 kW.
Next-gen Hyundai Creta
Hyundai will launch the next-generation Creta in the first half of 2027. The new SUV is expected to be revealed at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It will be based on the K3 platform that also underpins the new Kia Seltos. The SUV will have a more mature, upright and traditional SUV silhouette, and its design seems inspired by the Hyundai Cater concept.
The next-gen Creta will have a clean dashboard layout dominated by a large tablet-style floating touchscreen running Hyundai's new Android-based Pleos Connect infotainment system. It will come with a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, powered Bose mode function, dual-zone climate control and others. It will retain the existing 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. The next-gen Creta will also receive a new hybrid engine, which is likely to be based on the 1.5L NA petrol engine clubbed with an electric motor and a small battery pack.
