iCar V23 EV India launch soon? Testing hints at 2026–27 debut Rugged EV with up to 500 km range
The Chery iCar V23 has been spotted testing multiple times in India, and all signs suggest that its launch could happen soon. The rugged electric SUV is expected to arrive under the JSW Motors brand, likely by late 2026 or early 2027.
With testing already underway on Indian roads, the EV appears to be in an advanced stage of development.
The Chery iCar V23 is expected to be introduced after JSW’s first product, which could be a plug-in hybrid SUV based on the Jetour T2.
JSW Motors is setting up a manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, which is expected to begin operations around August 2026. This timeline hints that the iCar V23 could launch towards the end of 2026 or move into early 2027.

Recent spy shots show the Chery iCar V23 testing near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
The latest sighting gives a clearer view of the rear design. The SUV has a boxy and upright stance, with a flat tailgate and a rugged look. The tail lamps appear to be positioned lower, possibly integrated into the bumper.
The test vehicle was seen with steel wheels and heavy camouflage, indicating that it is still in the testing and validation phase.
Globally, the Chery iCar V23 is known for its tough, retro-inspired design. It carries a boxy shape similar to classic off-roaders, giving it a strong road presence.
This design approach is aimed at buyers looking for a lifestyle SUV that stands out from regular urban EVs.
Internationally, the iCar V23 is offered with multiple battery options.
It is expected to come with battery packs around 59.93 kWh and 81.76 kWh, offering a claimed range of up to 501 km. Both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups are likely to be available.
For India, exact specifications are not confirmed yet, but a similar multi-variant strategy is expected.
The Chery iCar V23 could be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 40 lakh. However, there are also expectations of a more affordable entry-level version priced under Rs 20 lakh.
Once launched, it is likely to compete with upcoming lifestyle electric SUVs such as the Mahindra Thar EV.

The India launch will be handled by JSW Motors in partnership with Chery Automobile.
The SUV is expected to be locally assembled, and it may even get a different name for the Indian market. This strategy will help keep costs in check and make it more competitive.
The Chery iCar V23 is shaping up to be an exciting new option in India’s EV space. With its rugged design, long range, and multiple configurations, it could attract buyers looking for a unique electric SUV.
With testing already underway and production plans in place, its India launch now looks closer than ever.
