MG Motor India reports 9% sales growth in January 2026. The MG Windsor EV continues to lead the charge in India’s EV market. New models like the M9 SUV and Hector facelift are boosting MG’s sales.
MG Motor India has made a great start to 2026 with impressive MG sales figures in India, showing a 9% year-on-year growth. In January 2026, the company sold 4,843 units, which reflects the strong demand for its cars. Let’s take a look at what’s driving MG's success.
One of the main reasons for MG’s strong performance is the MG Windsor EV, which remains India’s best-selling electric vehicle. People love the Windsor for its spacious interior, good price, and decent driving range. This car continues to help MG stay strong in the competitive EV market.
MG Hector also continues to do well, especially after its recent facelift. The demand for this traditional fuel-powered model is growing, showing that MG is doing well with both electric and regular cars.

MG's flagship models, the Cyberster and the M9 MPV, are also boosting sales. The Cyberster now comes with a new Irises Cyan paint option, which is attracting more buyers. The M9 SUV, which will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, will come with a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine, giving it 213bhp and 478Nm of torque. This makes it a strong competitor in the market.
With solid sales in January 2026, MG is set for another successful year in India. The brand’s focus on both electric and regular fuel cars, along with new models like the M9 SUV and Hector facelift, will help the company grow in 2026. As the year goes on, it will be interesting to see how the company does in the electric and premium SUV markets.
MG Majestor is expected to be a big seller for MG’s premium segment. It will be positioned above the Gloster and will compete directly with the Toyota Fortuner. The Majestor will launch on February 12, 2026, and its success will depend on its larger size, more than 5 meters long and its tech features, including Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. These features offer great value compared to other cars in this segment.
The Majestor will help increase sales and raise MG's brand image, but it will have to compete with strong rivals like the Toyota Fortuner. MG also needs to make sure it doesn’t hurt sales of the Gloster while growing in the premium SUV market.
