The long-awaited 5-door Mahindra Thar will finally make its official debut on August 15, 2024. It was speculated to be called the Thar Armada, but that didn't happen. In fact, Mahindra has officially announced that the new lifestyle SUV will be called the Thar Roxx.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be a 5-door long-wheelbase iteration of the 3-door Thar. It will come as a more practical offering with more spacious and better quality interior along with more powerful engines. The teaser reveals that the SUV will ride on a longer wheelbase that allows Mahindra to add an additional pair of doors to access the rear seats.

The teaser reveals that the Thar Roxx comes with round-shaped LED headlights with C-motif LED daytime running lights, round fog lamps and newly styled multi-spoke alloy wheels. It gets C-shaped LED tail-lights, and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.
The teaser confirms that the Mahindra Thar Roxx will have a 360-degree camera and newly styled grille. It also gets front parking sensors, which are clearly visible in the teaser. 4x4 insignia is placed right above the squared-off rear wheel arch.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will come with a fixed metal top roof, which is not available in the 3-door model. The dual-tone alloy wheels further hints towards the premium positioning of Roxx in the lifestyle SUV category.

The new Thar Roxx will be more feature loaded and spacious than the 3-door model. Thanks to the fixed metallic roof, the SUV gets a dual-pane sunroof. In fact, the company could offer lower variants with a single-pane sunroof. The spy images reveal that the SUV's cabin could be finished in a dual-tone brown and black colour scheme.
The dashboard layout will be similar to the 3-door model; however, it will have more features and bigger touchscreen. The SUV will have signature round-shaped AC vents, a grab handle for the co-occupant and a metal badge plate placed below the left AC vent. It will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Mahindra's latest user interface.

Some of the features include push button start, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear parking sensors, digital instrument console, 60:40 split folding rear seats and auto dimming IRVM. For safety and security, the SUV will have 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, ESC and traction control. It will also get Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, driver drowsiness detection and others.
The new Thar Roxx will be offered in 3 engine options - a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 2.2L turbo diesel and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol. The entry-level variants will get the 1.5L petrol engine with rear-wheel-drive setup. This engine produces 117bhp and 300Nm of torque. This model could be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

The new Thar Roxx will source the platform and engine options with the Scorpio N. The diesel engine produces 173bhp and 400Nm , while the turbo petrol engine produces 200bhp and 370Nm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
