Mahindra BE 07 electric SUV launch expected in early 2027 Vision T previews the Thar Electric, testing begins
The homegrown SUV maker, Mahindra is receiving excellent response for its new range of Born Electric SUVs. The company has managed to beat JSW MG Motor India to secure second position in the list of top electric car manufacturers of India. In a bid to further boos sales, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to launch two more electric SUVs in the Indian market by 2027-28. The next Mahindra electric SUV will be the production version of the BE 07, which has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. Moreover, Mahindra Vision T concept based electric SUV has also entered the testing phase.
Mahindra BE 07
The Mahindra BE 07 will be the brand’s fourth born-electric SUV, which is designed as a spacious, tech-loaded mid-size electric SUV. Based on the skateboard INGLO architecture, the Mahindra BE 07 drops the coupe-like roofline seen on the BE 06 in favour of a traditional upright family SUV silhouette. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2775mm, which plays an important role in offering spacious cabin. The electric SUV will be equipped with high-end features, including a panoramic sunroof, advanced advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) capabilities, frameless doors, flush-fitting door handles and dual-zone climate control. It will also get a triple screen dashboard comprising a 12.3-inch central infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for co-passenger.
The Mahindra BE 07 is likely to come with three battery choices, including a 59 kWh, a 70 kWh and 79 kWh with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The company could also introduce a dual-motor AWD setup. The higher-spec variant will offer a realistic range of around 500 km on a single charge. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the 79 kWh battery can attain 10% to 80% top up in roughly 30 minutes.
Mahindra Vision T - Thar Electric
Mahindra has started testing the Vision T Concept based electric SUV on the Indian roads. This concept previews the Thar electric, which utilises the brand’s new NU_IQ platform. The first model to be based on this architecture will be the Vision S based lifestyle compact SUV. Mahindra is yet to reveal the final name or specifications of the Thar electric.
The rugged, lifestyle oriented SUV shares its design and hardcore off-road legacy with the Thar. It comes with an aggressive boxy silhouette with squared-off wheel arches, chunky all-terrain tires, exterior door hinges, and distinct bonnet latches. The Mahindra Vision T based SUV will get a modern, feature-loaded cabin with a floating curved driver’s display and a large infotainment touchscreen. The SUV will also get physical buttons to control most of the usable functions. It is likely to offer four-wheel-drive systems and high ground clearance.
