Mahindra BE 7 Coming Soon to Rival 5-Seater Hector Tomahawk EV

Mahindra BE 07 launch in early 2027 It will be a rear-wheel-drive SUV, while the Hector Tomahawk EV will get FWD setup

Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing the production version of its born-electric BE.07 concept. This will be the brand’s fourth born-electric model, which will be positioned directly against the JSW MG’s newly launched 5-seater Hector Tomahawk EV in the premium electric mid-size crossover segment. Likely to be called the Mahindra BE 7, the new electric SUV will also rival the Tata Harrier EV, VinFast VF7 and others in the category.

Platform & Performance Dynamics

Mahindra BE 7: it is built on the INGLO born-electric platform. The SUV will be offered with single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) option, but a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant could also join the lineup. The electric SUV is expected to be offered with 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, and a single motor can offer power up to 282bhp and a peak torque of 380Nm. The battery options could support up to 175 kW ultra-fast DC charging, which will top up the battery from 10-80% in 30 minutes.

The electric SUV is expected to offer a claimed range of over 600km, and a realistic range of around 500km on a single charge. It will support both vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functions.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Range

MG Hector Tomahawk EV (5-seater): It utilises a front-wheel drive (FWD) electric motor paired with a 69.2 kWh battery pack, producing 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer MIDC rated range of 517 km on a single charge.

The Hector Tomahawk EV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in 8.2 seconds. The battery supports up to 90 kW DC fast charging. Using a 90 kW DC charger, the battery can achieve 30-80% charging status in around 35 minutes. Not just V2L and V2V, the electric SUV also supports vehicle-to-home (V2H) function. This allows the user to use the battery to provide electricity to the home in case of power cut.

Cabin Tech & Cargo Practicality

Mahindra BE 7: this electric SUV prioritises modern styling with frameless doors, motorised flush handles, and a full-width triple-screen dashboard layout paired with LEVEL 2 ADAS. The SUV will also get powered front seats with ventilation function, panoramic sunroof, powered ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers and others.

Hector Tomahawk EV Interiors

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: it prioritises comfort and space. The electric SUV features a massive 15.6-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment unit with Gen AI voice controls, a floating central console with significant spaces to carry coffee cups, phone, wireless phone charging and others. The 5-seater electric SUV is claimed to offer a massive boot space of 610-litres.

Verdict

While the MG Hector Tomahawk EV relies heavily on value-led pricing and maximum cabin volume, Mahindra’s BE 07 aims to win over performance enthusiasts with rear-wheel-drive dynamics, higher horsepower outputs, and dedicated born-EV packaging.
