Mahindra aims to launch several electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market. Based on the brand's new INGLO platform, these upcoming Mahindra electric cars will be launched as part of their Born Electric (BE) and XUV.e range. While the XUV.e8 electric SUV is expected to come at the end of the year-end, the BE models could arrive by October 2025.
The homegrown manufacturer will launch three models under the XUV range. Two of these will be XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Both EVs will get the 80kWh battery pack with an all-wheel drive system. The third EV under this range will be based on the XUV 3XO, launched in April 2024 as a successor to the XUV300. While the XUV.e8 is set to be launched in December 2024, the XUV.e9 could come by the next year in April 2025.
Mahindra BE range will include models like BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. The first model from this range to enter India will be BE.05. It will be launched by October 2025. Upon launch, it will be positioned above the XUV400. The second BE model will be BE.07 which is likely to be launched by October 2026. It will sit somewhere between the BE.05 and the XUV.e8. Meanwhile, the BE.09 will be a four-seater model. However, its launch timeline is yet to be revealed.
These upcoming Mahindra EVs are likely to get single-motor and dual-motor setups and provide multiple battery packs ranging from 60-80kWh. It is said that these cars will not only sprint fast but also be charged quickly using the fast charging capability.
Mahindra will launch another electric model which will be based on the Thar. The electric iteration will be called Thar.e and is scheduled to be launched by March 2026. It is likely to get a 60 kWh battery pack, two electric motors, and an automatic transmission. Besides, the Thar.e might also have Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2L) capability and a fast charging system.
The Thar electric SUV is expected to be based on an all-new platform, which will also underpin a wide range of electric SUVs. It will retain the original styling but will have modern treatment in the form of premium features inside the cabin.
