Patent reveals rugged pickup-inspired SUV with off-road styling. New UN_IQ platform supports multiple powertrains and AWD.
Mahindra & Mahindra has filed a design patent for the Vision SXT SUV, which first broke cover on August 15, 2025. The patented image shares a strong resemblance with the original concept, featuring a boxy silhouette with an aggressive-looking grille, a split headlamp setup, front skid plate, Y-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights), flared wheel arches and a tubular front bar.

The Mahindra Vision SXT concept share several design elements with the Vision T, appearing as a pickup-style derivative of the latter. Unlike the conventional pickup truck, the Vision SXT combines a distinct passenger compartment and a separate cargo area. It features a slim rectangular panel for the tailgate, a short and exposed rear deck with roll bars, and strapped spare tyres.
Other key design elements of the Vision SXT concept include pronounced and sculpted flared wheel arches with off-road-spec heavy-duty bumpers, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, exposed door hinges, hook points for roof carriers and bonnet latches. The concept was designed by Mahindra’s design studio in Mumbai and the UK, and developed at the Mahindra Research Valley.

The production-ready interior might also remain true to the concept. The Mahindra Vision SXT concept features minimalistic design with a large portrait-oriented central touchscreen infotainment system, a free-standing digital instrument cluster and central console with a few physical controls. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, and a new three-spoke steering wheel.
The Mahindra Vision SXT has been designed on the brand’s all-new NU_IQ architecture, which supports multiple powertrains (petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric). It’s also compatible with both FWD and AWD configurations as well as Left-hand drive and Right-hand drive setups. This platform features an extended 2,665mm wheelbase, creating a flat floor while offering class-leading rear legroom.
Mahindra claims that the SXT will deliver a class-leading ground clearance and a segment-first penta-link rear suspension. The carmaker also aims to achieve a five-start safety rating in both Global NCAP and Euro NCAP.
