Mahindra’s first mainstream New-Gen EV; Get 39.5 kW battery pack; Offers a range of 456 kilometres
Ahead of the World EV day, Mahindra and Mahindra has launched its first new EV, XUV400 in India. Based on the XUV300, the new EV SUV gets refreshed styling along with modification to the platform to accommodate the new powertrain.

The four-wheeler is available with a 39.5 kW battery that offers a range of 456 kilometres. The car comes powered by a single motor unit producing a peak power of 110 kW (147 bhp) and 310 Nm of torque driving the front wheels. The car get three drive modes: Fun, Fast and Fearless, that alters the driving characteristics of the SUV to enhance range and driving pleasure. 0-100 kmpl is achieved in under 8.3 seconds while the charging range is set at 0-80 percent in 50 minutes. In addition, the company has also provided the four-wheeler with Lively mode, the utilises regenerative braking to emphasise single pedal driving.


On the inside, the XUV400’s dashboard design remains identical to the XUV300, but get updated equipment and colour theme. The cabin is finished in all-back with satin copper accents and features an updated system that has specific readouts for EV driving data. As a car from 2022, the car also gets 60+ connected car technology and OTA updates. Expect for this the EV borrows all the features from the top-of-the-line XUV300.

Mahindra has put together a new road map for the XUV400 launch. The company wants to create a fun fest for customers in October and November were they can experience the car in the flesh. Then the brand will present the EV to the media followed by test drives and showroom display. Eventually in January 2023, Mahindra and Mahindra will launch the product and reveal its price to the public. The launch is expected to happen at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo.
