Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown EV manufacturer is all set to introduce its new age electric SUVs in the Indian market. For people not in the know, Mahindra had revealed 5 concepts - XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE05, BE07 and BE09 - based on the INGLO skateboard architecture. The Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the brand's first born-electric SUV, which is scheduled to be launched before the end of this year.
At the time of unveiling, Mahindra said that the XUV.e8 will be introduced by December 2024. However, reports suggest that the launch could shift to the first quarter of 2025 - most probably in January at 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The electric SUV will directly rival the Tata Harrier EV that is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2025.

The Mahindra XUV.e8 styling is very similar to the XUV700 and will be a 3-row electric SUV. Its concept is 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase is just 7mm longer than the XUV700's. The company has confirmed that the XUV.e8 will come with an all-wheel-drive system. It is most likely to be fitted with a battery pack of up to 80kWh. This system can offer power outputs somewhere between 230hp to 350hp.
The patent images of the XUV.e8 reveals the dashboard layout, which is dominated by 3 individual screens in a single casing. There is a separate passenger screen, which could be the extension of the existing XUV700 display. The new infotainment screens are likely to run on Mahindra's upgraded Adrenox software. It features a new two-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel with an illuminated logo. The centre console buttons and HVAC controls are likely to be sourced from the XUV700.
