Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce two brand new SUVs, including the e Vitara and an all-new mid-sized SUV with ICE powertrain in September 2025. MSIL is adopting multiple powertrain strategy to achieve its ambitious plan of capturing 50 percent market share. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki will utilise ARENA’s vast network to make the new mid-sized SUV, rumoured to be called Maruti Escudo or Maruti Victoris, a huge success.
On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be retailed through NEXA premium dealership network. MSIL has over 3,000 dealers under the ARENA nameplate and over 600 retail stores under NEXA nameplate. This makes sense, as e Vitara will mainly target urban customers who enjoy better charging infrastructure compared to semi-urban and rural India.
Maruti Suzuki has already confirmed that the e Vitara sales will start from September 2025. The company has already announced to launch a new SUV on September 3, 2025. Few media reports claim that the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched on Sept 3. However, several media outlets claim that the ARENA-only Maruti ESCUDO will launch in September.

MSIL has already started production of the e Vitara electric SUV at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. It will be Suzuki’s first global electric SUV based on an all-new scalable platform, called e HEARTECT. Suzuki will export the new electric SUV to over 100 countries from India. It will directly rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.
The electric SUV will be offered with two battery choices - 48.9kWh and 61.1kWh - both will come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The higher-spec model is claimed to offer a certified range of up to 500km on a single charge. The SUV is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in under 9 seconds. It supports fast charging and the bigger 61.1kWh battery can attain 0 to 80% charging status in 50 minutes.

Rumoured to be called the Escudo, the upcoming mid-sized SUV is reportedly to be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The new SUV will be the new flagship SUV from the ARENA dealership network. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and others in the segment.
The Escudo will be based on the Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara. It is reportedly to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, and will offer more space in the boot. Moreover, the new model will come with LEVEL 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, AWD drivetrain, a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit, hybrid powertrain and DOLBY Atmos for an immersive sound experience.
The midsize SUV is likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol with a mild hybrid tech, a 1.5L TNGA strong hybrid engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit. If rumours are to be believed, the new Escudo will be the first model to get an underbody CNG kit.
