The Indian SUV market is gearing up for an exciting shift with the rise of hybrid technology. In 2025-26, several upcoming hybrid SUVs are expected to hit the market that combine fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and practical driving for everyday use. These hybrid SUVs are quickly becoming popular for offering the benefits of electric power without the range anxiety of fully electric vehicles.
Here are the top 5 upcoming hybrid SUVs that Indian buyers can look forward to in 2025-26:
Set to launch on September 3, 2025, the Maruti Escudo is a midsize SUV based on the Grand Vitara. Available through Maruti Arena dealerships, it will offer multiple engine options, including the 1.5L K15C petrol, 1.5L Atkinson strong hybrid, and a petrol-CNG variant. The Escudo is positioned to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, offering modern styling, tech-packed features, and efficient hybrid performance.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid, launching around mid-2026, will feature Maruti’s own Series Hybrid technology. It combines a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine, electric motors, and a 1.5-2 kWh battery pack. The petrol engine charges the battery, which powers the wheels. With an expected mileage of 35-40 kmpl, the Fronx hybrid could become one of the most efficient SUVs in its segment.
Mahindra is entering the hybrid SUV segment with the XUV 3XO Hybrid, inspired by the Vision X concept. Built on the NU_IQ platform, it will likely offer ICE, electric, and hybrid powertrain options. Expected to launch in 2026, the XUV 3XO hybrid (codenamed S226) may include a range-extender system, making it a practical and high-tech option among upcoming hybrid SUVs.
Renault Duster Hybrid is making a return to India in 2026 with a strong hybrid setup. Based on the CMF-B platform, it will feature a 1.6L petrol engine, dual electric motors, and a 1.2 kWh battery pack, paired with an automatic transmission. Renault’s hybrid Duster promises better fuel efficiency while maintaining the rugged SUV character it is known for.
Honda is set to extend its hybrid expertise from the City sedan to the Elevate SUV. The Honda Elevate Hybrid will be locally produced at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan and is expected to launch in the second half of 2026. With a strong hybrid system, it could offer over 25 kmpl, combining efficiency with smooth driving performance, making it one of the most practical upcoming hybrid SUVs.
