The next-generation Kia Seltos has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads, revealing notable updates to its design and hinting at the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. Set to debut in early 2026, the new Seltos will build upon the current model’s popularity with a sharper exterior, upgraded features, and additional engine options, including an electrified version. With this major update, the Kia Seltos aims to take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the upcoming Tata Curvv.

Spy images confirm that the 2026 Kia Seltos adopts Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design language, which is already seen on electric models like the EV9 and Syros. While the design language is similar, the Seltos sports a slightly revised interpretation. The front end features slim, vertically stacked daytime running lights that frame the newly designed headlight units. A new concave grille replaces the outgoing version, giving the SUV a bolder and more contemporary face. Although the front bumper retains the horizontal slats from the current model, the fog light housings have been redesigned for a fresher appearance.
At the rear, previous sightings revealed a connected LED light bar running across the tailgate, similar to the layout seen on the Kia EV5. The alloy wheel design appears to be new, though it retains an 18-inch size, as seen on the existing GT Line and X-Line variants. These visual updates align the Seltos more closely with Kia’s global SUV lineup, making it more appealing to modern buyers.
Although the latest spy shots don’t offer a glimpse into the cabin, significant changes are expected on the inside. The next-gen Kia Seltos is likely to come with a completely redesigned dashboard layout, updated upholstery, and new interior trims. Kia is also expected to enhance the feature list with a more advanced infotainment system, digital displays, and additional connectivity features. In terms of safety, the new Seltos could come equipped with ADAS features, offering better protection and convenience in urban and highway driving conditions.
The 2026 Kia Seltos is expected to retain its current range of internal combustion engines. These include the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115hp, the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with 160hp, and the 1.5-litre diesel unit that delivers 116hp. Both manual and automatic transmission options are likely to continue, offering wide variety of driving preferences.
What sets the upcoming model apart, however, is the planned addition of a hybrid powertrain. Kia India is expected to introduce a hybrid variant of the Seltos following the initial launch of the new-generation model. The hybrid version will likely be based on the 1.5-litre petrol engine and could offer better fuel efficiency along with lower emissions. This hybrid powertrain is also expected to be used in Kia’s upcoming three-row SUV.
The launch of the second-generation Kia Seltos in India is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026. While the petrol and diesel variants will be introduced first, the hybrid model is anticipated to arrive later in the year.
