The next set of SUVs in India won’t just be about size and road presence. They will be smarter, more efficient, and packed with new technology.

 

While SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Fortuner, and Mahindra Thar made rugged styling popular, upcoming models are now adding hybrid and electric power options to the mix.

 

Now, new SUVs are coming that combine tough looks with hybrid and electric power options.

JSW SUV - Plug-in Hybrid Power

 

JSW Motors is preparing to launch its first SUV later this year. This will be a large SUV designed to rival the Toyota Fortuner. It is likely to come with a plug-in hybrid system, combining a petrol engine with electric motors.

 

The SUV could offer an electric-only range of up to 162 km, making it suitable for both city drives and long trips.

 

Mahindra Vision S - Flexible Power Options

 

The production version of the Mahindra Vision.S is expected to arrive in 2027. This compact SUV will be built on a new platform that supports petrol, hybrid, and electric powertrains.

 

It is also expected to offer premium features like a panoramic sunroof, large touchscreen, and digital driver display.

 

Renault Bridger - EV and Hybrid Ready

 

Renault is working on the Renault Bridger, its first sub-4 metre SUV for India. At launch, it is expected to get a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, but hybrid and electric versions could be added later.

 

The Bridger is expected to offer a bold design with a practical cabin, targeting everyday buyers.
