Renault has revealed the new Bridger SUV Concept, which will be developed in India for domestic as well as international markets. The French automaker has confirmed that it plans to develop four new models in India by 2030. The company has a limited portfolio in our market with three products in the mass-market category, including Triber, Kiger and Kwid. In order to boost sales further, Renault will introduce 4 cars in the mass-market segment.
All four upcoming mass-market models will be locally developed, which suggests that Renault is serious about Indian market to drive growth. The Renault Bridger compact SUV will be the first of these vehicles, which will be launched in our market by the end of 2027. It will be the first vehicle developed in our market under Renault’s new accelerated development programme. The SUV will also be exported to international markets. Rest of the three models are expected to follow over the latter half of this decade.
These four upcoming mass-market vehicles will be built on Renault’s modular architecture, which is flexible enough to accommodate different body styles and multiple engine options, including internal combustion, hybrid, and electric. The common platform will allow Renault to achieve competitive pricing and less turnaround time for a new product.

The concept previews a boxy design, and will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Brezza and the upcoming Mahindra Vision S concept based SUV. The SUV carries an upright stance, strong lines and smoother surfaces along with striking off-road design elements. It comes with a straight bonnet, a squared-shaped front fascia, sporty bumper, prominent cladding all-around the body and squared-off wheel arches, along with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Renault claims that the new Bridger will have a rear knee room of 200mm, which is claimed to be the segment-best. The SUV will offer around 400-litres of boot space, which will be the largest in the segment. The Renault Bridger based compact SUV will be offered with multiple engine options, including petrol, hybrid, CNG and electric. It is likely to receive a new 1.2L NA petrol engine along with a turbo petrol and a hybrid powertrain. The electric version is expected to be offered with two battery choices.
