Stellantis has announced the arrival of its electric vehicle brand Leapmotor in India. The company already sells Jeep and Citroen cars here and plans to grow further by offering more sustainable and smart mobility options.
Stellantis stated, “We’re excited to announce the entry of Leapmotor in India. The Indian market holds immense potential, and we are committed to supporting its growth.”
Leapmotor aims to offer affordable, tech-loaded electric vehicles to Indian buyers. Globally, the brand has a wide range of EVs including:
Given India's love for SUVs, it’s likely that models like the C10 and C16 will be brought here first. The T03 hatchback could also be launched to target budget EV buyers.
Stellantis is considering assembling Leapmotor EVs locally as CKD (completely knocked down) units at its Ranjangaon facility. Full-scale local production will depend on market demand and business feasibility.
To start with, Leapmotor will likely be sold through Stellantis’ existing dealerships in India. This move could help increase customer visits and boost sales for the network.
