India’s First Internet SUV MG Hector Is Now E20 Fuel Compatible

MG Motor India has officially launched the 2025 MG Hector in the market. Priced from Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom), the petrol variants of both the MG Hector and MG Hector Plus have now received E20 fuel compliance certification from the Indian government. This makes the Hector the second MG vehicle after the MG Astor to comply with the latest emission norms.

What is E20 Fuel and Why It Matters

E20 fuel is a petrol blend that contains 20% ethanol, a more sustainable alternative aimed at reducing carbon emissions and dependency on fossil fuels. With the Indian government mandating E20 compatibility from April 1, 2025, MG Motor’s move aligns with the country’s push for greener transportation. All petrol-powered Hector models manufactured after March 31, 2025, will meet this requirement—without any increase in prices.

No Major Cosmetic or Feature Changes in the 2025 Model

Apart from the powertrain tweaks required for E20 fuel compatibility, the 2025 MG Hector remains unchanged. And that’s not a drawback—Hector was already one of the most feature-rich SUVs in its segment. It retains:

• 1.5L turbo petrol engine (6-speed manual and CVT)
• 2.0L turbo diesel engine (6-speed manual only)
• 14-inch portrait infotainment system
• 70 connected car features with internet support
• ADAS suite with autonomous capabilities
• Dual-pane panoramic sunroof
• Premium interiors and spacious cabin
