Tata Motors has patented the design of its all-new Sierra SUV, which is scheduled to go on sale towards the end of this year. The leaked patent shows its upright and commanding stance, featuring trapezoidal LED headlamps, high-mounted LED DRLs with a full width LED bar, a pronounced air dam and vertically positioned fog lamp assembly.
Moving to its sides, the SUV has massive body cladding, flush door handles, squared wheel arches, side moulding, a floating roofline and ORVMs with integrated turn signals. The latest spy images reveal that the new Tata Sierra will have a connected LED light bar at the rear end. The lower variants might come with the steel wheels, while the higher trims could get the 19-inch alloy wheels.
The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its interior. However, the production-ready version is likely to come with a floating triple screen setup similar to the model showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The SUV will also feature a four-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, auto dimming IRVMs, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, a premium sound system, rear AC vents and a panoramic sunroof. The safety kit of the Sierra will consist of a 360 degree camera, Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), multiple airbags and ABS with EBD.
The official powertrain details are not available at this point. However, the Tata Sierra petrol is likely to use a 1.5L turbo engine and the diesel version will source power from a 2.0L motor. Both engines deliver a maximum power of 170 PS. The petrol unit offers a peak torque of 280 Nm, while the oil burner offers 350 Nm. The SUV lineup will come with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
The Tata Sierra EV might share its powertrain with the upcoming Harrier EV, which is slated to hit roads in March 2025. The SUV is expected to be offered multiple battery options, and deliver a range of over 500km on a single charge.
