The long-awaited Maruti Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV will be launched in the Indian market in December 2025. Production of the SUV has already been commenced at Suzuki’s Gujarat based plant. Moreover, Suzuki has started exporting the new electric SUV to select international markets, including Europe and Japan.
The Suzuki e Vitara is based on an all-new scalable platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. The new electric SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV.
The Suzuki e Vitara will come with two battery choices - 48.9kWh and 61.1kWh - both will come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The higher-spec model produces 171bhp and 192Nm, while the lower-spec e Vitara with 48.9kWh battery pack offers 141bhp and 192Nm.
The electric SUV will offer a certified range of up to 500km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in under 9 seconds. Using a fast DC charging, the bigger 61.1kWh battery can attain 0 to 80% charging status in 50 minutes.
The new e Vitara comes equipped with a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital driver’s display. In terms of features, the SUV gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting with multi-colour illumination, fixed glass roof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and sliding and reclining rear seats.
For safety and security, the electric SUV gets a 360-degree surround view camera, 7 airbags, Electronic parking brake with auto hold, TPMS, blind spot monitoring, all-disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
