Toyota makes its EV SUV debut in India. Skoda Kushaq gets a much-awaited facelift. Both SUVs launch on January 20.
Two big SUV launches are lined up for tomorrow, January 20. Toyota is entering the electric SUV space, while Skoda is giving its popular midsize SUV a fresh update. Here’s a simple look at what to expect from both launches.
Toyota will officially unveil the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV on January 20, marking its first electric SUV for the Indian market. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV launch is a big step for the brand as it enters the mid-size electric SUV segment.
The electric SUV is closely related to the Maruti e Vitara and will take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric. Toyota has made small design changes to give it a distinct identity, especially in the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV interior, which is expected to feel premium and tech-focused.

Power is likely to come from two LFP battery options. The smaller battery is expected to offer around 142 bhp, while the larger unit could produce close to 172 bhp. Toyota is claiming a Toyota Urban Cruiser EV range of up to 500 km on a single charge, making it practical for daily use and long drives.
When it comes to cost, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV price is expected to fall between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it right in the heart of India’s growing EV SUV market.
Alongside Toyota’s EV, Skoda India is all set to reveal the Kushaq facelift on January 20, giving its popular midsize SUV a fresh update nearly five years after its debut in June 2021 under the India 2.0 strategy.
Skoda Kushaq facelift 2026 is expected to feature refreshed styling with new DRLs, updated bumpers and an illuminated Skoda badge at the rear. Inside, the New Kushaq could get a larger digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof and several new comfort features.
Under the hood, the 2026 Skoda Kushaq is likely to continue with the same engines. This includes the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 115 hp and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with 150 hp, paired with manual and automatic gearbox options.
In terms of pricing, the Skoda Kushaq facelift 2026 price is expected to see a slight increase over the current model, which is priced between Rs 10.66 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
With the electric Toyota Urban Cruiser EV and the petrol-powered Skoda Kushaq facelift launching on the same day, January 20 is set to be an exciting one for SUV buyers. Whether you’re looking to switch to electric or want a refreshed mid-size SUV, both launches bring something important to the table.
