2 New Nissan SUVs Coming to India – Creta & XUV 7XO Rivals

Nissan Tekton SUV to debut with Duster-based platform in July, 2026. Nissan’s new 7-seater SUV arriving in 2027.

Earlier this year, Nissan India expanded its product portfolio with the Gravite subcompact MPV, positioned it as a budget-friendly and practical choice for family car buyers. Aiming to strengthen its presence in the Indian market, the carmaker is planning to launch two new SUVs – the Nissan Tekton and a premium three-row model. While the Tekton midsize SUV is scheduled to debut on July 9, 2026, the 7-seater SUV is expected to arrive in 2027.

Nissan Tekton

Nissan Tekton Rear Design

The Nissan Tekton is essentially the re-badged version of the Renault Duster, featuring Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV-inspired design language. Official teasers have revealed that the SUV sports a Patrol-like wide grille with two chrome strips, LED headlamps, connected LED DRLs and a dual-tone bumper. Other key highlights include pronounced wheel arches, black trim on the side profile, connected LED taillamps, dual-tone rear bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The interior of the Tekton is expected to look largely similar to the Renault Duster, expect from Nissan’s badging on steering wheel and upholstery. Most features are also likely to be carried over from its Renault sibling.

Similar to the Renault Duster, the upcoming Nissan Tekton is expected to be offered with a 100bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and a 163bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine. Transmissions on offer will include a 6-speed manual (standard) and a 6-speed DCT (available only on the 1.3L petrol variants). The SUV could also be available with Duster’s 160bhp, 1.8L hybrid powertrain at a later stage.

New Nissan 7-Seater SUV

The 7-seater Nissan Tekton will serve as the brand’s flagship offering in India, taking on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. The SUV is expected to be offered with the 1.3L turbo petrol and 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain options. However, performance figures might be slightly vary due to its larger dimensions and higher kerb weight.

The overall design and styling of the new Nissan 7-seater SUV are likely to be similar to the Tekton. However, it will be longer and more spacious with an additional third-row of seats. In terms of pricing, the 7-seater Tekton is expected to command a premium over its 5-seater counterpart.
