Nissan Tekton Global Debut On July 9 - What To Expect

Nissan Tekton will debut globally on July 9. It shares its platform with the new Renault Duster. The SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Nissan is all set to unveil the all-new Tekton SUV on July 9. The upcoming model will mark the brand's entry into the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment and is expected to play an important role in strengthening Nissan's lineup.

Ahead of its global debut, several details about the SUV have already surfaced, giving us a good idea of what to expect.

Will Get A Different Design From The Duster

Although the Nissan Tekton shares its platform with the new Renault Duster, it has a completely different design.

At the front, the SUV gets a wide grille, rectangular LED headlamps, vertical LED DRLs and a raised bonnet. Nissan has also added Tekton lettering on the bonnet, giving the SUV a distinct identity.

The rear gets connected LED lighting, production-spec tail lamps, roof rails, a rear spoiler and Tekton lettering across the tailgate. Thick black cladding and silver inserts on the rear bumper add to its upright look.

The overall design is inspired by the larger Nissan Patrol SUV.

Based On The New Duster

The Tekton is built on the same platform as the latest Renault Duster. However, Nissan has made enough styling changes to give it its own identity.

The SUV will be positioned above the Magnite in Nissan's lineup and will compete in the popular mid-size SUV segment.

Engine Options Expected

Nissan has not revealed the powertrain details yet.

However, the Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Renault Duster. This could include turbo-petrol engines, while a hybrid version is also expected in global markets. It remains to be seen whether Nissan will introduce the hybrid version in India.

Who Will It Rival?

Once launched, the Nissan Tekton will compete with some of the best-selling SUVs in the segment. These include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
