New-gen Toyota Hilux India launch scheduled for July 28. Mahindra Vision SXT pickup expected to come with multiple powertrain options.
Are you planning to buy a lifestyle pickup truck? If yes, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Mahindra & Mahindra are preparing to introduce two capable lifestyle pickups in India – the next-generation Toyota Hilux and the Mahindra Vision SXT. Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming models.

The next-generation Toyota Hilux is set to go on sale in India on July 28, 2026. Based on the body-on-frame IMV platform, the all-new pickup truck features a honeycomb center grille, sleek LED headlamps, ‘TOYOAT’ lettering on a black piece of plastic trim, a silver skid plate at the front end. The side profile is enhanced by a shark-fin antenna on the roof, black wheel arches, black rims and roll bars behind the cabin. At the back, the pickup truck sports vertically positioned taillamps with LED DRLs, ‘TOYOTA’ badge on the tailgate and a bumper integrated step.
Inside, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux will continue to be offered in the Double Cab configuration. It comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens – one functioning as the touchscreen infotainment with Toyota Smart Connect and the other working as the driver’s display with four design themes. Most of the existing features will be retained including dual zone automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a surround view camera system, wireless charging and more.
Toyota is yet to reveal the engine specifications. However, the all-new Hilux is likely to feature the existing 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine, producing power worth 204bhp and 420Nm (MT)/500Nm (AT) of torque. Transmission choices will also include the same 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The Mahindra Vision SXT concept was first showcased at the last year’s Independence Day alongside the Vision S, Vision T and Vision X concepts. It’s essentially a derivative of the Vision T concept and previews the brand’s future pickup truck. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the production-ready Vision SXT is expected to arrive after 2027.
Based on Mahindra’s all-new modular NU_IQ platform, the Vision SXT has been designed by Mahindra’s Mumbai and UK design studios, and developed at the Mahindra Research Valley. The concept features a rear pickup bed-like area and a slim rectangular panel for the tailgate. Other key highlights include heavy-duty off-road spec bumpers, strapped spare tyres, pronounced wheel arches, all-terrain tyres, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, hook points for roof carriers, bonnet latches and exposed door hinges.
Underpinning the NU-IQ platform, the Mahindra SXT is expected to be offered with multiple powertrain options including petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid. Mahindra claims that the pickup will poses serious off-roading capabilities with features such as an approach angle of up to 28 degrees, a departure angle of up to 34.9 degrees and a breakover angle of up to 28.2 degree, best-in-segment ground clearance and a segment-first penta-link rear suspension.
