New Hilux to be based on IMV platform Expected to be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 40 lakh
The new generation 2026 Toyota Hilux is all set to go on sale in the Indian market tomorrow, July 28. The previous generation model was launched in our market in March 2022, and received a positive response from car buyers. The ninth-generation Hilux comes with significantly revised design with modern elements and an all-new feature-loaded and premium cabin.
The new-generation Hilux is expected to receive a significant price hike over the previous model. The eighth-generation model was priced between Rs 28.52 lakh and Rs 36 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the new Hilux to cost somewhere around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh, ex-showroom.

The new-gen Toyota Hilux is based on the same IMV platform that underpins the Hilux. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 204hp and a peak torque of 420Nm. The torque output increases to 500 Nm when paired to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. A 4x4 AWD system is likely to come as standard along with a low-range transfer case. This time around, the Hilux diesel could get a new 48V mild-hybrid system.
The international-spec model is also available as an all-electric vehicle, featuring a 59.2 kWh battery pack with dual electric motors offering a combined power output of 196hp. This model offers a WLTP-claimed range of 240km on a single charge. However, this model is not likely to arrive in our market.
The India-spec new-gen Hilux interiors will be similar to the international-spec model. It will have a 3-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 12.3-inch fully digital TFT driver’s display. Instead of hard plastic, the new Hilux gets a premium cabin layout with inspiration from the latest Land Cruiser Prado.
It is expected that the Double-Cab Hilux will get powered and ventilated front seats, an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a cooled glovebox. The new Toyota Hilux comes with a comprehensive radar-and-camera-based driver assistance safety net with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
