New Toyota Hilux launched Gets a 2.8L diesel engine with 48V mild-hybrid tech It is packed with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit
The much-anticipated 9th generation Toyota Hilux has finally been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 31.99 lakh. The new lifestyle SUV comes with all-new design and a feature-loaded cabin. The lifestyle pick-up is available in three trim options - GX 4x2 AT, GX 4x4 AT and VX 4x4 AT. The GX 4x4 AT is priced at Rs 33.69 lakh, while the top-spec VX is tagged at Rs 36.69 lakh, ex-showroom.

The 2026 Toyota Hilux is based on the same IMV platform that underpins the previous model. It is powered by the same 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine that produces 204 hp and 500 Nm when mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. A 4x4 system is offered as standard with a low-range transfer case. The engine also gets a new 48V mild-hybrid system. The lower-spec variant also gets a 4x2 rear-wheel-drive option. It comes with several electronics to assist off-roading, such as Multi-Terrain Select, Downhill Assist Control and Advanced 4WD driving modes.
The new Hilux comes with aggressive design, and has lot more prominent creases and angles than the previous models. Upfront is a slimmer LED headlights with LED daytime running lamps, which are connected by a gloss-black strip that houses ‘TOYOTA’ lettering. The front grille is squarer and has prominent angular honeycomb-mesh design elements.
The lower bumper has two quadrangle-shaped black air intakes on either side. It has strong creases, wide air intakes, a silver skid plate and two LED fog lamps. The side looks cleaner, featuring squared-off black cladding on wheel arches, a footboard for easier ingress and egress, and new alloy wheels. At the back, the lifestyle pickup gets C-shaped wraparound LED tail-lights. There is a massive ‘TOYOTA’ lettering on the tailgate. The chunky rear bumper integrates a step to climb onto the truck bed.
It is available in six colour options, including two all-new paint schemes - Sulphur Metallic and Platinum Pearl White Metallic.
It comes with all-new cabin inspired from the latest Land Cruiser Prado. The dashboard is dominated by a free-standing 12.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch fully digital TFT driver’s display. The Double-Cab Hilux is equipped with features like powered and ventilated front seats, an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a cooled glovebox. It also comes with a comprehensive radar-and-camera-based driver assistance safety net with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
