New Hyundai Creta Rival Debuts Tomorrow – Key Details Revealed

Nissan Tekton will debut globally on July 9 in Mumbai. Nissan has teased the SUV as the "Baby Patrol." It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Grand Vitara.

Nissan Motor will unveil its new midsize SUV, the Nissan Tekton, on July 9 in Mumbai. Ahead of the global debut, the company has released multiple teasers of the SUV and officially referred to it as the "Baby Patrol", indicating that it draws design inspiration from the larger Nissan Patrol.

The Tekton will be Nissan's new offering in the midsize SUV segment, where it will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Škoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.

Patrol-Inspired Design

The latest teaser shows that the Tekton shares several styling elements with the Nissan Patrol. It features an upright front end, a large grille and slim horizontal lighting elements. A full-width LED light bar connects the illuminated Nissan logo, while the "TEKTON" lettering on the bonnet gives the SUV a distinctive look. Spy shots have also revealed a flat roofline, squared wheel arches, thick body cladding and an overall boxy design.

Features Expected

The Nissan Tekton is expected to come with dual digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control and connected car technology.

On the safety front, higher variants are likely to offer six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.

Engine Options

The Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Renault Duster.

The entry-level variants could get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 100 PS with a manual gearbox. Higher variants are likely to use a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 163 PS and 280 Nm. This engine is expected to be available with both manual and dual-clutch automatic transmission options.

Nissan is also expected to introduce a strong hybrid version at a later stage.

Expected Price

The Nissan Tekton is expected to be priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. The top-spec variant with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and ADAS features could be priced at around Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
