Gets updated 1.0-litre K-Series engine; Comes with modern and feature rich interior; Equipped with automatic gearbox option
India’s most popular hatchback is back in a new avatar. Launched at a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 offers an updated interior, powertrain and feature list. Here is ‘everything you need to know’.
Compared to the outgoing model, the new car comes with a radical new styling. While the car has gained heft, the Alto legacy is maintained with the design cues carried forward from previous generation cars. The four-wheeler now gets a more upright stance courtesy the new HEARTECT platform.
The outside of the vehicle is characterised by a more prominent front grille with honeycombed grille, sweptback headlamp units and a reprofiled bumper. Towards the side we see clean lines along with a new design for the 13-inch steel wheel covers. The rear section of the four-wheeler is similar to Celerio but is differentiated by a new set of taillights and bumper design.
Excluding this, the Alto K10 is a simple yet functional design.
On the inside, the Alto tells a different story with a new dashboard layout, steering wheel and feature list. On offer is a new 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment unit with 4 speakers and Android Auto, Apple CarPlay connectivity. Also new is a three-spoke steering wheel with audio controls. Like with most Maruti cars, the Alto’s cabin is now finished in black and grey upholstery.

Like the name suggest, the new Alto K10 will be offered with a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine producing a maximum power output of 67 bhp and peak torque of 89 Nm. This system will come mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AGS gearbox option. At launch the four-wheeler was introduced with a petrol engine while its CNG option is expected to come later sometime.
The vehicle will be offered in 6 variants with 4 manual and 2 automatic. The prices for the manual start at Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while the automatics start at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new-gen Alto K10 will be available with 6 exterior colours along with 3 new colours- Sizzling Red, Speedy Blue and Earth Gold.
In addition, the car also gets two exciting accessory packages, Impacto and Glinto.
So, what do you think about the new Alto K10? Does this entry level hatchback excite you?
