MG Motor India is gearing up to launch a refreshed version of its popular Hector SUV in 2026. Known for its success in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with models like the Comet EV and ZS EV, the company is now shifting focus back to its internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs. Spy shots of the 2026 MG Hector facelift have recently surfaced, offering a sneak peek at the updates that will set it apart from its competitors in the mid-size SUV segment.

The spy shots show a test mule of the upcoming Hector facelift, and while the car is covered in camouflage, some design changes are already noticeable. The most significant change will be to the front end. Expect a refreshed grille and updated bumpers, giving the Hector a more contemporary look. The rear of the SUV will also feature a new bumper with slight changes to the design, ensuring the 2026 model stands out in the segment.
The current Hector already has sleek LED DRLs that double up as turn indicators, and it seems these elements will be carried over to the new model. The LED headlight setup, bonnet, and radar position for ADAS will likely remain unchanged. The test mule’s sheet metal and lighting elements remain similar to the current Hector, indicating that MG is focusing on a design refresh rather than a complete overhaul.
One of the noticeable upgrades will be the new alloy wheels. The test mule was spotted with 19-inch wheels, which are larger than the current model and in line with what rivals like the Tata Harrier offer. This could help the Hector facelift look more premium and give it a stronger road presence.
Inside the cabin, the 2026 Hector facelift is expected to get more tech and comfort features. A new 14-inch portrait-style infotainment screen will be the centerpiece, offering an improved touch response. Physical buttons for climate control might also be added for ease of use.
Under the hood, MG is likely to retain the same engine options as the current model. This means the 2026 Hector will continue with the 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. While these engines are already well-regarded for their performance, there may be some tweaks for improved fuel efficiency and driving experience.
In terms of safety, the Hector facelift will likely get more Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features. These technologies are becoming standard in the segment, and MG is expected to equip the 2026 Hector with a comprehensive suite of safety features. Additionally, there is speculation that the diesel variant may offer an automatic transmission option.
The 2026 MG Hector facelift will go head-to-head with some of the biggest names in the mid-size SUV segment, including the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700. With these rivals offering strong value propositions, MG is likely to price the refreshed Hector competitively to ensure it remains a top choice among buyers.
