Tata to launch Sierra EV in next 1-2 months Kia Syros EV launch expected by August 2026 Hyundai to launch new electric SUV before Diwali 2026
The Indian auto market is set to witness an unprecedented surge. As we move closer to the 2026 festive season, the 3 big car manufacturers - Tata, Hyundai and Kia - are all set to drop major EV SUV bombs. All three brands are aiming to capitalise on the year’s biggest shopping window. While Kia and Hyundai will have their Nexon EV challengers, Tata will introduce the Sierra electric SUV.

The long-awaited Tata Sierra EV was originally planned to be launched in May, 2026; however, reports suggest that the launch has been pushed to June or July 2026. Positioned as a premium lifestyle SUV, the Sierra EV brings back the iconic “glass house” design in a modern, eco-friendly avatar.
Platform: it is built on the advanced acti.ev architecture that also underpins the Curvv EV and the Punch EV
Battery Packs: 55kWh from Curvv EV and 65kWh from Harrier EV. It will be a front-wheel-drive SUV as standard, but the higher-spec model will have dual-motor AWD setup.
Range: It is likely to deliver a certified range of over 600km, and we expect the new SUV to deliver a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.
Estimated Price: Rs 20 lakh - 25 lakh

The Kia Syros EV will be the brand’s entry-level model in the electric vehicle space. It will be an ICE-to-EV conversion, however, Kia will make several EV-specific design changes. The new Kia Syros EV is expected to be launched in August 2026.
Design: it will look largely identical to the ICE-powered Syros, except for the few EV-specific design changes such as a closed-off front grille, revised bumpers and new aero-optimised wheels.
Battery Packs: It is likely to share the 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs from the global Inster platform. Kia could also use the Clavis EV’s 42kWh and 51.4kWh batteries to power the new Syros EV. We expect the new Syros EV to offer a certified range of up to 500km on a single charge.
Key Features: dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrument console, and a 5-inch screen for AC controls, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, powered driver’s seat and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
Estimated Price: Rs 15 lakh - 20 lakh
Hyundai has started testing its all-new compact electric SUV, internally codenamed HE1i, on the Indian roads. Likely to be launched by October 2026, the new electric SUV is designed to be an affordable, high-tech urban vehicle. It will be based on the K1 platform and will directly rival the Tata Nexon EV.
Design: the spy images reveal that the new EV will have a boxy design with flatter roof, cleaner surfaces and squared-off front. It will be marketed as a lifestyle electric compact SUV.
Battery Packs: It is likely to be offered with 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs, with an estimated range of above 450km on a single charge.
Key Features: dual 12.3-inch screens, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, LEVEL 2 ADAS, 360-degree surround view camera and others.
Estimated Price: Rs 15 lakh - 20 lakh.
