Tata to launch Sierra EV by June 2026 Toyota Ebella prices to reveal soon Honda confirms 0 Alpha EV for India
While EV demand is sluggish globally, automakers in India are betting on electric vehicles to drive sales. Tata Motors is already leading the chart, while Mahindra electric SUVs are gaining huge traction among car buyers. Two Japanese automakers, Toyota and Honda are also ready to enter the electric passenger vehicle category in the next 1 year. While Tata is readying the Sierra EV, Honda has confirmed the development and testing of the 0 Alpha based mid-sized electric SUV, and Toyota is all set to announce the price of its first mass-market midsize electric SUV, e Bella in India.
These three midsize electric SUVs will take on the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6 and others. Take a look at the top 3 upcoming midsize electric SUVs that are redefining the Indian roads.
Tata Motors has already teased the new Sierra EV on social media platforms. It is scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2026, between April and June. The new Tata Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev platform that also underpins the Curvv EV and Punch EV. It will share most of its features and interior layout with the ICE-powered Sierra. This EV will have a triple screen dashboard comprising a a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch co-occupant screen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
The electric SUV will be equipped with high-end features. Its lower variants are likely to be equipped with dual-screen setup, a similar pattern we have seen with the ICE-powered Sierra. In terms of features, the electric SUV will have LED lighting system, ventilated and powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, dual-zone climate control, LEVEL-2 ADAS, electronic parking brake with auto hold and others.
It is likely to be offered with two battery choices, including a 55kWh and a 65kWh. The EV will be a front-wheel-drive model; however, the higher-spec model with 65kWh battery will get a dual-motor AWD setup. We expect the new EV to offer a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.

Toyota will soon announce the prices of the Urban Cruiser Ebella, which is essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti e Vitara. It will be offered in 3 trim levels - E1, E2 and E3. The base model will get the 49kWh battery pack, while the mid and higher variants will have 61kWh battery. The 49kWh and 61kWh variants are claimed to offer an ARAI certified range of 440km and 543km, respectively. Both versions will come with a front-axle-mounted electric motor offering 189Nm of torque.
The base variant comes with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, all-power windows with one-touch up/down, 18-inch alloys, 7 airbags, stability control, hill hold control, TPMS and others. The top-spec variant gets ventilated front seats, single-pane fixed glass roof, powered driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, JBL sound system and LEVEL 2 ADAS.

Honda has officially started testing the 0 Alpha concept based electric SUV on the Indian roads. The company has confirmed that the SUV will be launched in FY26-27, before March 2027. It will be manufactured at the brand’s Tapukara production plant in Rajasthan. The electric SUV will have a strong road presence with upright stance, flat tailgate and boxy shape. Honda will focus on offering spacious and practical cabin. The new e-SUV will be based on an all-new skateboard platform.
The electric SUV will have a wheelbase length of around 2700-2800mm. It will be offered with two battery pack options, both will have LFP batteries. The exact battery capacity is yet to be revealed, but we expect the SUV to get around 65kWh-75kWh units with a front-axle-mounted electric motor.
