Nissan India has shared the first details of its upcoming mid-size SUV, called the Nissan Tekton SUV. This new Nissan C-SUV is expected to go on sale in mid-2026 and will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The name Tekton means “craftsman” or “architect” in Greek, which reflects Nissan’s focus on design and precision for this model.

The all-new Nissan Tekton takes clear inspiration from the brand’s larger Patrol SUV. Nissan’s senior design director, Ken Lee, mentioned that the Tekton’s styling is heavily influenced by the Patrol’s strong and rugged design.
At the front, the Nissan Tekton 2026 features a large grille, sculpted bonnet, and LED headlamps that are connected across the width of the SUV. The C-shaped lighting signature is a familiar Nissan design element. The SUV also gets flared wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and Tekton lettering on the front. The rear design includes a sporty spoiler, upright tailgate, and dual-tone bumpers in black and silver.
The interior of the new Tekton has not been fully revealed yet, but Nissan has shown a teaser image. The cabin will feature a three-tone dashboard with soft-touch materials on the top, a glossy black center section, and a copper-colored strip running across. The layout looks simple yet premium, matching the expectations of modern SUV buyers.
The Tekton SUV will share its platform with the upcoming Renault Duster. Both SUVs will be built at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai. Although engine details are not confirmed yet, the Nissan new SUV launch is expected to come with petrol engine options only, similar to the Duster.
The Nissan Tekton SUV is expected to launch in India by mid-2026. Positioned in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, the 2026 Tekton will go up against models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
Expected Launch: Mid-2026
Segment: Mid-size Nissan C-SUV
Design: Inspired by the Nissan Patrol
Platform: Shared with Renault Duster
Powertrain: Expected petrol-only options
Production: Renault-Nissan Chennai facility
Nissan Tekton 2026 will be a major step for the brand in India. With a bold design, premium interior, and proven platform, this new SUV could be a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
