The Indian EV market is growing very fast. Some automakers are planning to introduce new electric vehicles in 2025. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, MG M9, MG Cyberster, and Tata Harrier EV are some of the new models that are about to arrive. These vehicles will hit Indian roads in the first half of 2025.
Let us know about these new electric cars in detail.
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, in India. The SUV will compete against other electric options like Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV. The e-Vitara platform has been based on the Heartect-e, a dedicated electric vehicle platform. Two battery packs have been designed - a 49kWh one and a 61kWh one. While the former will deliver 143 bhp and 193 Nm of torque, the latter will deliver 173 bhp and the same level of torque.
Range-wise, e-Vitara high-spec variant will cover more than 500 km on a full charge. The car will also come equipped with a myriad of other amenities including a 10.25-inch infotainment display, 10.1-inch instrument display, ventilated front seats, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It will also boast safety amenities like 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
MG M9, also known as the Maxus Mifa 9, is a luxury electric MPV. The car will become available in India in March 2025. The MG M9 will be sold through MG's premium stores. The cost of the car will be estimated at Rs. 65 lakh. The car will be equipped with a 90kWh lithium battery and front-wheel drive. The range of the M9 will be an estimated 430 km on a full charge.
MG M9 is a big MPV available in 5.2-meter length. Two sunroofs with space for either 7 or 8 people are available. It has powered front and rear seats that are accompanied by a ventilation, heater, and massager feature. It also features entertainment screens for the rear section, along with fold-out ottoman seats. Sliding back doors on the M9 have also been a feature, and this is more convenient for passengers.
MG Cyberster is an electric sports car that will likely to be priced around Rs. 80 lakh. MG will launch Cyberster as the first electric sports car in India. Cyberster has a 77kWh battery and AWD. Cyberster makes 510 bhp and 725 Nm of torque and goes 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. The car will have a single full charge CLTC cycle battery range of 580 km.
The MG Cyberster will also feature high-end amenities, including a 10.25-inch driver display screen, wireless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree parking camera, and LED lights. The car will also boast a sole 20-inch alloy wheel and scissor doors. The car will also come with ADAS capabilities like front collision warning, blind spot detection, and lane-keep assistance.
Tata Motors will introduce the electric version of its best-selling Harrier SUV. The Harrier EV was first revealed as a concept model in 2023 and is now planned to be introduced in 2025. The Harrier EV will be constructed on Tata's Gen 2 acti.ev platform. The body design of the Harrier EV will be taken from the current ICE-powered Harrier but will be subjected to some alterations to be a productive EV.
The Harrier EV is going to receive a new front grille, new alloy wheels, and an EV badge. On the mechanical front, the SUV is going to receive a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, sunroof, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Ventilated seats and driver's seat memory function will also make their way to the front. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging are going to be the highlight feature of the Harrier EV. The vehicle will feature an AWD system and torque of approximately 500 Nm.
Kia EV6 facelift will shortly be available in India, as confirmed by a teaser revealing the new design. The facelift model first went on sale worldwide in May and has debuted in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi. The vehicle will sport a new front fascia with triangular LED headlights, a redesigned bumper, and new alloy wheels, with the rear having signature LED taillights and EV6 branding. The interior will include a 12-inch heads-up display, a new steering wheel, and a digital rear-view mirror. The facelift will come with a more substantial 84kWh battery, instead of the present 77.4kWh, with quicker charging that will advance from 10-80% in 18 minutes via a 350kW fast charger.
