Volkswagen recently released its new subcompact SUV, the Tera 2025. Manufactured and developed in Brazil, the model will initially be sold in the Brazilian market. Tera is intended to compete against popular sellers like the Fiat Pulse and Nissan Kicks. The Tera ranks below the Nivus and the T-Cross and is designed to be an entry-level affordable SUV that will be desirable to consumers searching for a compact but modern car.
The Tera 2025 boasts a new design with Volkswagen's worldwide SUV character, similar to the new Tiguan and renewed Taos. The designers of the Tera 2025 created the new design under José Carlos Pavone, the vice president for Volkswagen's Design for the Americas.

The front of the Tera is characterized by its LED headlights and unique daytime running light design. The headlights are divided into two sections above the main light, with a chrome bar in between the two. There is no lighted grille, maintaining the appearance clean and modern. The front bumper receives special treatment with a huge air intake in the form of a honeycomb, flanked by two side air intakes. It lacks fog lights, though.

The Tera also has LED taillights, which are accompanied by a black bar with silver stripes. The design is the same as Nivus and T-Cross. A prominent crease at the rear side connects the door to the taillight, giving the car a sharp edge to its profile.

The trim that is featured at the unveil has sporty 17-inch diamond-cut alloys. Lower trims will most probably feature more affordable steel alloys with hubcaps.

Inside, the Volkswagen Tera takes some inspiration from Volkswagen's electric ID cars. The car's multimedia unit is raised and located in the middle of the dashboard. This does serve to make the interior look contemporary and cutting-edge. The Tera will come with a fully digital instrument panel, which shows important driving data in a clear format. It will also include the VW Play Connect system, meaning drivers can link their smartphone to the car and access various features through an app.
The interior will similarly be minimalist but with added emphasis on technology. The Tera will have inductive charging capabilities for your phone, so that you can wirelessly charge it. There will also be cabin ambient lighting, which provides a warm and slimming ambiance. All these technologies are aimed at enhancing the driving experience's comfort and convenience.

Not all the information regarding the Tera's engine is out yet from Volkswagen. However, it is expected that the Tera will use the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged motor found in the Polo. This motor can produce 116 horsepower and 164 Nm of torque. It will likely be paired with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. This engine will provide a good balance between power and fuel efficiency, making it ideal for city driving and long highway trips.

Volkswagen has included some hidden, fun details in the Tera. For example, on the rear window, you’ll spot icons of three iconic Volkswagen models: the Beetle, Gol, and Tera. These playful icons are a nod to the brand’s history and legacy. Inside the trunk, there’s also a fun inscription that says “Trip Mode On,” adding a lighthearted touch to the vehicle.
