The XUV 3XO EV will feature a new grille, new alloys and EV-specific design elements. Mahindra plans XUV 3XO hybrid with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine. This EV might use a 35kWh battery, smaller than the XUV400. The XUV 3XO EV will arrive in the coming months, while the XUV 3XO hybrid might launch in 2026.
The Mahindra XUV 300 subcompact SUV was first introduced in India in early 2019. Despite its top safety rating and features, the model struggled to hold a significant market share. In 2024, Mahindra & Mahindra gave it a major upgrade and rebranded the SUV as Mahindra XUV 3XO. The facelifted version has managed to generate decent volume for the home-grown automaker. Currently, the XUV 3XO lineup is available within the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh – Rs 15.56 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
This subcompact SUV comes with the 1.2L turbo petrol (110 bhp/200 Nm), 1.2L TGDi turbo petrol (129 bhp/230 Nm) and 1.5L turbo diesel (115 bhp/300 Nm) engine options. The indigenous automaker is planning to introduce the Mahindra XUV 3XO with an electric and hybrid powertrain in near future. Here are all key details we know about its two upcoming iterations.
The electric version of the subcompact SUV has been undergoing testing for a while now. The spy images reveal that the XUV 3XO EV will feature a differently designed front grille featuring a larger central air intake and badging. The new alloy wheels, C-shaped taillamps and some EV-specific design elements will further distinguish it from its ICE counterpart.
Inside, this electric compact SUV might get updated switchgear on the center console along with features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, tyre pressure monitoring system, push button start/stop, Adrenox connected car tech with built-in Alexa, dual zone climate control, auto headlamps and wipers, multiple airbags and many more features.
As of now, there is no official information about its powertrain. However, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is expected to use a 35kWh battery, which will be a smaller version of the XUV400’s 40kWh battery pack. The range and power figures are yet to be revealed.
Considering the growing demand of hybrid vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra also plans to introduce hybrid powertrain to its popular models including the XUV 3XO subcompact SUV. It will be the brand’s first hybrid SUV, which is expected to arrive sometime next year. Details of the Mahindra XUV 3XO strong hybrid are not available at this point. However, reports suggest that the model will come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired to the brand’s new hybrid system. No significant design changes are expected inside and out, except for ‘Hybrid’ badging.
The home-grown automaker is also evaluating range extender hybrids for its born-electric SUVs, which are codenamed M130 and M330. These vehicles, however, will be less fuel efficient than the conventional hybrid models. In fact, the range extender hybrid SUVs will require regular powertrain maintenance as well.
