After launching the Next-Gen Verna, Hyundai Motor India seems to be getting ready for its next upcoming vehicle - the Ai3. While the Micro SUV has already been spotted testing in South Korea, latest spy shots now reveal that the automaker is testing the vehicle in India. We take a closer look at this most anticipated vehicle from the brand.
Hyundai Ai3 SUV will feature the brand’s new SUV design language with an upright stance and squared off proportions. The leaked picture gives the impression that the micro-SUV is likely to feature a split-headlight setup with H-pattern LED DRLs. The headlamp clusters in particular will offer a squarish design. Talking about the side profile, it will provide flared wheel arches and an upright windowline making the vehicle look quite tall. As for the rear, it will feature new angular LED taillights and a redesigned bumper with faux skid plate.
The upcoming Ai3 SUV will be underpinned by the same K1 platform as the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Aura subcompact sedan. While the dimensions will be different as it is a micro-SUV, the wheelbase is expected to remain similar to its siblings.
Mechanically, the Hyundai Ai3 is expected to be offered with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine as the Hyundai Aura, Venue, and Grand i10 NIOS. The motor will deliver a power output of 82 bhp with 144 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options here will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Hyundai is expected to introduce a CNG-option of the model at a later date.
Latest media reports suggest that the automaker will be launching the New Ai3 around the 2023 festive season. Once launched it will rival the likes of Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in its segment.
