Hyundai Bayon launches in India on October 26. It could get dual 12.3-inch screens and an AI voice assistant. A 1.5-litre petrol engine will be offered with manual and iVT options.
Hyundai is all set to launch the new Bayon in India (today) on October 26, 2026. The upcoming SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s lineup. It is expected to offer modern styling, useful features and a petrol engine at a competitive price.
Bookings for the Hyundai Bayon are open for Rs 11,000. While the company has shared details about its design, features and engine, the official prices are yet to be announced.
The Bayon could be an option for those looking for a petrol SUV with modern technology and comfort features. Its final price will play a major role in how it competes with other SUVs in India.
The Hyundai Bayon is expected to get a modern cabin with two 12.3-inch displays. One screen will work as the digital instrument cluster, while the other will handle infotainment functions. The SUV will also get an AI-based voice assistant that can understand natural speech and help with different tasks. It uses technology from Perplexity and SoundHound AI.
Other key features could include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, ventilated front seats and a Bose sound system. Hyundai's Bluelink connected-car system will also offer several remote and online features. The Bayon is also expected to support over-the-air updates for up to 19 electronic control units. This will allow supported vehicle systems to receive software updates without visiting a service centre. However, some features may only be available in the higher variants.

The Hyundai Bayon will use a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of torque. Customers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and an iVT automatic gearbox. This should give them the option to pick a transmission based on their driving needs.
The automatic version is also expected to get paddle shifters and Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes. These modes will let drivers choose different settings based on their preferences. Hyundai has also said that more than six lakh vehicles with this 1.5-litre petrol engine have been sold in India since 2020. This means the engine is already used in several Hyundai models.
The Hyundai Bayon will get six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Higher variants are also expected to offer Level 2 Pro ADAS. These driver assistance features are designed to help drivers in certain situations on the road.
Other expected features include a 360-degree camera and a blind-spot view monitor. Their availability will depend on the variant. These features could make the Bayon a strong option for those who want modern safety technology in their next SUV. The final variant-wise feature list will make it easier to compare the Bayon with its rivals.
Hyundai has not announced the official price of the Bayon yet. Its starting price is expected to be around Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom, but this is only an estimate.
The SUV could compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and MG Astor, depending on its final price. Some variants could also overlap with selected versions of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
If Hyundai keeps the starting price competitive and offers useful features in the mid-range variants, the Bayon could become an interesting choice in the segment. However, the final prices and variant-wise features will decide how it compares with these SUVs.
The Hyundai Bayon will bring together a modern cabin, dual screens, an AI voice assistant and several safety features. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine, along with manual and automatic gearbox options, will give customers more choice.
The biggest question is how Hyundai will price the SUV. A competitive starting price and a good set of features in the mid-range variants could help it stand out in India's crowded SUV market.
Hyundai will announce the official prices today. The price announcement will give a clearer idea of how the Bayon compares with other SUVs in India.
