Hyundai Exter 996 Units Exported to South Africa

Launched in July 2023, Hyundai Exter impressed Indian customers with its small size and tech-loaded interior. After achieving the milestone of 1 lakh sales in India, the automaker has started exporting India-spec Exter to South Africa. The first batch of 996 units has already been dispatched. Previously, Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, Aura, i20, i20 N Line, Venue, Venue N Line and Alcazar were also exported to South Africa; Exter being the 8th one.

Hyundai Exter: Design Differences & Interior

In terms of design, the South African model gets blacked-out treatment on several body parts along with the chrome enhancement. The black centre grille gets chrome treatment, while the rear has a thick black bar that runs across the width.

It gets projector-based halogen headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels, silver front & rear skid plates, and LED tail lights with H-shaped elements.

Inside, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a single-pane sunroof, auto AC with rear vents, a USB charger, and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Safety Features

On the safety front, the Exter is offered with six airbags, a rear-view camera, Hill Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Control, ABS with EBD, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Powertrain Details

Under the hood, the South Africa spec model uses a 1.2-litre petrol engine. This 4-cylinder unit can push out 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.

Variants and Prices

The South African Exter is offered in three variants, namely Premium, Executive, and Elite. Prices for the micro SUV range between R2,69,900 to R3,34,900, which is approximately Rs 12.95 lakh to Rs 16.07 lakh in India. While in the Indian market, the car is available between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
