Kia is preparing to launch a new entry-level electric SUV, the Kia EV2, as part of its growing global EV lineup. The EV2 will be one of the most affordable models in Kia’s electric portfolio. After being revealed in concept form earlier this year, production-ready versions have now been seen on roads in South Korea.
Let’s see what has been revealed.
The Kia EV2 follows the brand’s modern ‘Opposites United’ design language. This design philosophy is a mix of rugged SUV appeal with clean, city-ready styling.
The EV2 will likely be just under 4 metres long, making it compact enough for urban use, but with bold design elements like squared wheel arches, a high nose, thick cladding and a sloping roofline to give it a strong road presence.
While the concept version had a unique open LED DRL signature, the final design might be toned down for practical use. Aero-style wheels, larger dual-tone ORVMs, and smooth blacked-out pillars add to the final version’s sportier and more real-world-friendly appearance.
Although the interior of the EV2 hasn’t been fully revealed yet, it is expected to carry a clean, minimalist layout. Thanks to the flat floor layout enabled by its E-GMP platform, the SUV will offer better cabin space than most cars in its size.
Likely features include a dual-screen setup for infotainment and the driver display, a sleek new steering wheel, and possibly even a full glass roof on higher trims.
Kia is also expected to load the EV2 with several connected and premium features such as OTA updates, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) support, a premium audio system, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
Unlike the more expensive Kia EV6 and EV9, which use an 800-volt system, the EV2 will run on a cost-effective 400-volt setup. This move helps Kia price the EV2 more competitively while still offering strong performance.
The SUV is expected to come with two battery pack options, using either LFP or NMC battery chemistries, and deliver a claimed range of around 450 to 500 km on a full charge.
Powering the EV2 will be a single front-axle mounted electric motor, making it front-wheel-drive only. While performance numbers haven’t been revealed, the focus is likely to be on efficiency and practicality rather than outright speed.
The global launch of the Kia EV2 is scheduled for February 2026, with Europe being its first major market. Production for the European units will take place at Kia’s factory in Slovakia. The expected starting price is around €25,000 (approx. Rs 24.88 lakh), positioning it as one of the more affordable EVs in its class.
While there’s no official word yet on an India launch, the EV2 could eventually join Kia’s India EV plans given the growing demand for compact electric SUVs.
