6 Big Moves Kia Is Making in India

Kia plans 8 electrified cars Syros EV launch expected soon Hybrids like Sorento, Carnival coming

Kia is gearing up for a major transformation in India with a strong focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. The brand has revealed an aggressive strategy that will reshape its lineup over the next few years.

Here are six big moves Kia is making in the Indian market.

1. Kia Syros EV to Become Its Most Affordable EV

Kia is working on the Syros EV, which is expected to debut in July 2026. It will be positioned below the Kia Carens Clavis EV, making it the most affordable EV in Kia’s India lineup.

The upcoming Syros EV is expected to be powered by a 42kWh battery pack. It could be paired with an electric motor producing around 133 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. Expected pricing is between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.

2. Strong Focus on Electrified Vehicles

Kia plans to expand its lineup to 10 models in India by 2030. Out of these, eight will be electrified, including EVs and hybrids.

This clearly shows the brand’s long-term shift toward cleaner mobility solutions.

3. Kia Sorento Hybrid for Premium Buyers

Kia is also preparing to bring the Sorento hybrid SUV to India. It will sit above the Kia Seltos and target buyers looking for a larger three-row SUV.

Expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh, it will compete with models like the Mahindra XUV700.

4. Kia Carnival Hybrid in the Pipeline

The Carnival will also get a hybrid version in India.

Globally, it uses a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing around 272 hp and 367 Nm. The hybrid version is expected to offer better efficiency than the current diesel model.

5. Local Production to Keep Prices Competitive

Kia has confirmed that it will localise production for its upcoming models.

This move is aimed at keeping prices competitive while improving availability and reducing dependency on imports.

6. Big Sales Target for the Future

Kia is targeting annual sales of 4.1 lakh units in India by 2030, along with a market share of 7.6 percent.

This ambitious goal highlights the brand’s intent to become a stronger player in the Indian market.
