The global premiere of the Kia EV3 is scheduled for May 23. Ahead of that, the brand has teased the compact electric SUV for the first time, revealing its exterior styling and features. The upcoming EV3 will be positioned below the EV5 compact electric SUV. The India launch for the EV3 is yet to be confirmed.
Kia EV3: What to Expect
Based on the teaser, the production-ready model features bold and geometric appeal. It features boomerang-shaped LED DRLs and vertically stacked headlamps. The rear profile has the EV3's signature Star Map lighting, boxy rear fenders and tailgate.
The details of the interior are yet to be revealed though it is expected to offer a minimal design theme, similar to the EV6. Plus, it is likely to get a wide-screen freestanding unit on the top of the dashboard and minimal physical buttons on the centre console.
Kia EV3: Powertrain, Variants
Under the hood, the EV3 is expected to be packed with a 40-45kWh battery pack. The SUV will be sold as a rear-wheel-drive model with a 150hp, electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It is likely to offer a maximum range of 400-500 km on a single charge.
The upcoming EV3 will be the smallest SUV of the Kia's EV series and be built on the E-GMP platform. This skateboard architecture also underpins the EV6, EV9 and the EV5. In fact, Hyundai also uses the same platform for the Ioniq 5 electric crossover. As for the variants, the EV3 could get similar variants to the EV9 (Light, Wind, Land, and GT-Line).
Expected Price
Based on its compact size, it is likely to be an affordable model for customers. We can expect it to be priced around Rs 25 lakh and will rival the Hyundai Kona EV, MG ZS EV and others.
