Tata Motors has finally introduced the Curvv EV in the country at an introductory price tag of Rs 17.49 lakh. An ICE version of the Tata Curvv will also be launched on September 2, 2024. Moreover, Citroen is also entering the SUV Coupe segment in India. It will announce the prices of the Basalt on August 9, 2024.
Coupe SUVs styling is generally associated with premium and luxury cars. With Basalt and Curvv, Citroen and Tata Motors are introducing the Coupe SUV body styling to masses. After Tata Motors and Citroen, Mahindra will also introduce a mass market SUV Coupe in the country.
For people not in the know, Mahindra had showcased 5 electric SUVs concepts under the XUV and BE range. The XUV range includes XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, while the BE range includes BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. All these 5 SUVs are designed and developed on Mahindra's new skateboard platform, called INGLO.
Out of these 5 upcoming Mahindra EVs, two models, the XUV.e9 and BE.05 will come with SUV Coupe styling. At the time of unveiling, Mahindra had revealed the BE.05 will be launched by October 2025. The XUV.e9 production model is scheduled to be launched by April 2025.
The Mahindra BE.05 will be a compact SUV Coupe and will be positioned against the Tata Curvv EV. The concept was 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,635mm tall, and had a wheelbase of 2,775mm. It has the segment-longest wheelbase, which should translate into a spacious cabin and big boot space.
The new Mahindra BE.05 will come with aggressive design, featuring angular C-shaped headlamps, prominent airdams, sharp cuts and creases and a striking air-duct on the bonnet. It has squared off wheel arches, flush door handles, sloping roofline and chunky rear-end. It gets C-shaped tail-lamps and a striking rear bumper.
The XUV.e9 will be the brand's flagship electric SUV, which measures 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width and 1,690mm in height. It will be a 5-seater Coupe SUV riding on a 2,775mm long wheelbase. Its styling is inspired from the XUV Aero concept, but with modern treatment and Mahindra's family look. The SUV Coupe shares its front design with the XUV.e8.
The Mahindra XUV.e9 is likely to share the battery pack and electric motors with the elective XUV.e8. This SUV Coupe is likely to receive dual electric setup with AWD setup.
