New Mahindra Compact SUV in Works - Based on Vision S

Mahindra is working on a new compact SUV for the Indian market, based on its Vision S concept. The upcoming model is expected to arrive around 2027 and will expand the brand’s SUV lineup further.

Positioned Between Two Popular SUVs

This new SUV will sit between the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Mahindra Scorpio N. It will target buyers who want something more premium than the XUV 3XO but more affordable than the Scorpio N.

New Platform Underneath

Unlike many traditional Mahindra SUVs, this model will use a monocoque construction. It will be based on the new NU_IQ architecture, which is designed to offer better comfort, improved space and modern driving dynamics.

Rugged Yet Compact Design

The Vision S-based SUV is expected to feature a bold and muscular design. It could get a tall stance, squared proportions, strong wheel arches and a rugged look overall. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel and sharp design lines may further enhance its SUV appeal.

Engine Options Likely from XUV 3XO

Mahindra is expected to use familiar engines from the XUV 3XO. This could include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Multiple transmission options, including manual and automatic, are likely to be offered.

Features and Cabin

The SUV is expected to come with a feature-loaded cabin. Higher variants may offer a touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof and cruise control. Despite its compact size, it is likely to offer good cabin space and practicality.

Rivals and Launch Timeline

Once launched, the SUV will compete with upcoming models like the Renault Bridger and Kia Syros. The launch is expected to take place in 2027.
