We reported earlier that Mahindra is planning to launch an all-new SUV before the end of this year. It is most likely to be the XUV700 facelift that has been caught testing numerous times. Mahindra is also testing the XEV 7e electric SUV, which was speculated to be launched in Q1, 2026. However, media reports suggest that the electric SUV could be launched by December 2025.
The XEV 7e looks largely identical to the XUV700, but it has several EV-specific design changes. The SUV will have XEV 9e-like front fascia, featuring a blanked-off fascia and connected LED strip. There are flush-type door handles and new alloys. The 7-seater EV will have new connected LED tail-lamps and an illuminated logo.
The cabin layout will be identical to the Mahindra XEV 9e. It is equipped with a three-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment screen. The electric SUV is expected to be offered with both 6- and 7-seater options with former having captain seats in the second-row.

The XEV 7e shares the battery packs with XEV 9e and BE 6. The battery choices will include a 59kWh and a 79kWh with a rear-mounted electric motor. There could be a dual-motor AWD set-up on offer.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will sit above the XEV 9e in Mahindra’s Born-EV range. We expect the SUV to cost somewhere between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 35 lakh. It will rival the likes of the Tata Harrier EV and BYD Atto 3.
