Maruti e Vitara launch pushed to January 2026. Battery and export priorities caused delays. New Maruti electric SUV to get strong range and features.
The new car launch in India everyone is waiting for - the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has been delayed once again. The EV was officially showcased on December 2, 2025, but the brand did not reveal its prices. Maruti confirmed that the Maruti e Vitara launch will now happen in January 2026, which is when sales and deliveries will begin.

The 2026 Maruti e Vitara has faced its second major delay. The first setback came from battery supply and software issues. The latest delay is linked to a global shortage of rare earth magnets, as highlighted by industry reports. Maruti is also prioritising international markets before starting local deliveries in India. Production has already begun at the Hansalpur, Gujarat plant, but most units are being exported.

Although the official pricing is still pending, experts expect the new Maruti electric SUV to cost between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings are likely to open soon, and commercial sales will start in January 2026.
The new Maruti e Vitara will be sold in three variants - Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
- The Delta gets a 49 kWh battery with 144 PS power and 344 km WLTP range.
- The Zeta and Alpha get a 61 kWh battery, producing 174 PS and offering 543 km ARAI range.
All Indian variants are front-wheel-drive, while global versions also get a dual-motor setup.
Maruti is offering flexible ownership choices - full purchase, monthly subscription and a Battery-as-a-Service model. These options aim to make EV ownership easier for new buyers switching to the electric segment.
To support its first Maruti electric SUV, the brand has installed over 2,000 charging stations across 1,100+ cities. Through 13 partners, users can also access 70% of India’s fast chargers via the ‘e for me’ app. More than 1,500 workshops are already EV-ready for service support.
The e Vitara looks modern with LED projector headlamps, Y-shaped DRLs, 18-inch aero alloys and wraparound LED tail lamps.
The cabin gets a premium black-and-tan theme, a dual-display setup with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital cluster, ventilated seats, a fixed glass roof, powered driver seat and ambient lighting.
The SUV comes with up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS and Level-2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and autonomous emergency braking. It also has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
Once launched, the e Vitara will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and Tata Curvv EV, along with the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.
