Starlight 560 will come with plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains IM6 will be an electric SUV to rival BYD Sealion 7 and Tesla Model Y
JSW MG Motor India is all set to announce the prices of the long-awaited Majestor full-sized SUV, which will replace the Gloster. After this SUV, MG will launch two more SUVs, including a plug-in hybrid vehicle in our market. The company has already started testing the IM6 electric SUV and the Wuling Starlight 560 on the Indian roads. Interestingly, the Starlight 560 will be offered with Plug-in Hybrid and Electric powertrains, and will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO and XEV 9S, respectively.
Internally codenamed 520, the new MG SUV will be a re-badged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 on sale in the Chinese market as the Xinguang and in the Indonesian market as the Wuling Eksion. In the global markets, the SUV is offered with 5-and 7-seat layouts; however, MG is likely to launch the 7-seater derivative in the Indian market. The Starlight 560 measures 4745mm in length and rides on 2810mm long wheelbase. It is around 50mm longer than the XUV 7XO.
The Plug-in hybrid version is fitted with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 106hp and 130Nm of torque, and a 20.5kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The combined power and torque output stands at 197bhp and 230Nm, respectively. It is claimed to offer an electric range of 100km. The PHEV can achieve 0-100kmph in 9.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 170kmph.
The electric derivative gets a 56.7kWh battery pack with a front-axle-mounted electric motor rated at 136hp and offers 200Nm. It is claimed to offer a CLTC range of 500km on a single charge. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can achieve 30-40 percent charging status in 20 minutes.

It will be the next model to be sold through MG’s premium SELECT dealerships. Likely to be launched by festive season 2026, the MG IM6 will come as a CBU and will be positioned below the MG M9. For people not in the know, MG had showcased the IM6 electric SUV at the 2025 Auto Expo.
The electric SUV is based on an 800V electrical architecture. It is packed with a 100kWh battery pack, and is available with both RWD and AWD setup. The rear-wheel setup offers 408hp and 500Nm of torque, while the dual-motor AWD version delivers 778hp and 802Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3.4 seconds. The RWD version offers a WLTP range of 555km on a single charge, while the AWD version delivers 505km.
The electric SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 396kW, and its 100kWh battery can achieve 30-80% charging status in just over 15 minutes. The MG IM6 gets a massive 23.6-inch panoramic screen, and an additional 10.5-inch screen. It will take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
